Aquario features the photography of nationally-know artist John Woolley. His approach is a blend of Fine Art, Paparazzi, and Fashion, resulting in a unique 'Editorial' style. Not posed and static like traditional imagery, or completely candid like 'snapshot photojournalism', editorial style is loosely directed, with an eye for dramatic settings and sculpted light. This is closer to the way editorial fashion photographers work, and relies on lots of movement and spontaneity, for a gorgeous natural feel.
This dramatic approach to wedding and portrait photography has caught the eye of Good Morning America, In Touch, Professional Photographer, Rangefinder, The Knot Southern California, Brides, San Diego Style Weddings, and numerous other publications, making John one of California's best known and most respected wedding photographers.
He was recently featured in Professional Photographer magazine as 'One to Watch,' and won First Place in WPPI's prestigious international 8x10 contest, with four Accolades of Excellence. Brides love him as well, voting him ‘The Knot Best of Weddings 2007 Pick'and 'Audience Pick' on San Diego City Search.

I Love Aquario Studios. I have been getting pictures done by them for years now. The staff is so nice and down to earth. They really make you feel comfortable and always add an unusual creative twist. Beautiful work!
The phototgrapher / owner was over half an hour late for the engagement photos. At the wedding he was rude to the wedding party, when we asked for a family photo you would have thought we were asking him to cut off an arm. Needless to say that we didn't get any photos of the extended family. He used some kind of infarred lens on some of the pictures that made the groom look like he was wearing a clown suit. It took for ever for the photos to be posted to the website so we could view them. Once the images were posted, they didn't post all of them so we had to ask where they were. Part of the contract was for a photo album that they would work with us on designing, well they posted a "sample" that was just a bunch of random photos, not even the ones we wanted, when asked they said because they already designed one (on-line mind you as a "sample") that we would have to do this one on our own. The photos taken by the guests turned out better then his "professional" ones. Overall for the money spent, it was not worth it at all. An individual in the wedding party had planned on using him at his wedding the following month, needless to say the Monday following the wedding he found a new photographer primarily because of this guys attitude.
This photographer was recommended to us by others who had wonderful experiences and their photos looked great, unfortunately we were not as lucky and as a result ended up with a terrible photography experience. Fortunately though, if we had to do it over again, the only thing that we would change would be the photographer. For the money, the quality and professionalism just wasn't there!
John (from Aquario) captured our engagement, our wedding, our pregnancy, and our newborn in his pictures. All gorgeous pics! Everyone always raves about them!
My husband and I had our engagement pictures done with Aquario Studio. My husband was hestitate to do it and ended up having a blast! You could see how much fun we had taking the pictures. The whole experience was GREAT!
I had Aquario Studio photograph my 5 month old son in the Spanish Village at Balboa Park and the pictures were amazing. The posed pictures were beautiful but the ones we get the most comments on were the ones where candid pictures were being taken while we didn't know it. John was able to capture my husband and I interracting with our son and those pictures turned out to be the real diamonds. We plan on using Aquario Studio for our next child due in February.
We love our wedding pictures-John includes traditional poses with very artistic and unique shots that make people go "Awww" and "WOW" the entire time they look through our wedding album.
This studio was a disaster! The photos were so-so. They photographed the females of our wedding party from below so the women were looking down at the camera giving them double chins and wrinkles that would not appear if they had been looking straight on. Then it took over two months to get the photos online. When they did get them online they left some out and then put the others at a second website. When they sent the albums they bound them incorrectly and they had to be redone. When we received the discs the numbers for the photos on the disc did not correspond with the proofs. In addition, the proof book they sent us was incomplete. I would not recommend them!!
