Nominated for: BEST Arts & Crafts
In 1969 ceramics teacher Rhoda Lopez founded Clay Dimensions to house the UCSD Extension Classes and to provide studio space for ceramic artists (studio associates). Clay Dimensions held bi-annual sales of students' and associates' work. After Rhoda retired in 1983, the then seven associates took over the management of the studio, obtained a California non-profit status for it, and changed its name to Clay Associates. The classes and sales continued, though they were no longer part of the University Extension program.
