Nominated for: BEST Romantic Restaurant
Experience CAL-SPANISH CUISINE and gracious Californian hospitality in a beautiful wine bar and restaurant hidden away in the Village Shop Boutique courtyard in Old California Restaurant Row. A Mission Bell Tower above the restaurant beckons you to come in and have some fun, drink some great wine or micro brews, listen to talented musical performers and connect with other people.
A lot of people ask where the name Friars Folly came from. The inspiration came from the winery of Mission Santo Tomas in Ensenada, Mexico. In this beautiful old building, you will find wonderful old world paintings of the padres and candle boys n the wine cellar in various states of disarray form imbibing the wine in the casks. The paintings are joyful and exhibit a little foolishness that these humble and simple men found in addition to the arduous task they had in creating the foundations for the California culture we enjoy today.
