In 1969, Byron and Virginia Hardin began serving the world's best burgers. Hodad's
first location was located on the beach at the end of Santa Monica Ave. in Ocean Beach. In 1991, after several moves, Hodad's opened at its present location in the heart of Ocean Beach's Newport Ave. Hodad's is now owned by second generation Burgermeister Mike "Boss Man" Hardin and long time friend Teri Rhodes.

I was skeptical to stand in line for a burger, but I was absolutely amazed by the burger! THE best burger I've ever had, and I've had a few for sure. Crazy atmosphere, cold beers, GREAT BURGERS! Get it SAC'd for sure.

CNN placing this as one of top burger joints in America? Food Network featuring this on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives? Now that the cat is out of the bag, it's been consistently busier. Meaning, on a weekend, expect an insane queue. Trust me, after waiting in that line, you'll be very familiar with Newport Avenue. However, despite the large crowds, Hodad's hasn't let the pressure effect their quality. The burgers, fries, and shakes are all still amazing. Only thing I'd ask if you plan on heading over here is - bring company you don't mind being around for a couple of hours, have alot of patience, and a large appetite.

Just was in for the first time in a couple of years, nothing has changed despite all the accolades. Micha hooked us up with a free Bday burger, rings and beer. Cant believe I was able to finish the double bacon, Hats off to Hodads.
