Great sushi...the chef is very creative & accommodating with creating sushi rolls that are not on the menu (though the menu is very extensive). Some of the best vegetarian sushi rolls (veggie tempura rolls; cucumber/avocado roll with spicy mayo; philly roll with veggies).

We first went to Sushi Ota 20 years ago when one of our favorite waitresses went to work there. The sushi was (and is) amazing, the service is beyond compare. The tipoff is that the menus are in both English and Japanese. Much of the crowd was speaking Japanese and you got to consider that to be a pretty good indication of quality

This place might be tucked behind a 7-11, but it is THE best Sushi in San Diego! Try their Spicy Tuna Roll, it's like butter!
I can't say the check out/waiting area is the greatest, but I will get crushed up against the walls to wait for my sushi here! lol
