Fantastic service and the freshest fish. The sushi chef is great - he can always come up with something new and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and the people are always friendly.
They have the most unique, delicious rolls. The personal service is great and there's a real local vibe to the place. Most tourists wouldn't even know it's there. The flavors they bring together in their rolls and sashimi both are like no other!
Easily the best Sushi in a 50 mile radius. I don't even live in Oceanside, yet since eating there the first time, I will not eat sushi anywhere else. First off their rolls are huge, and you get rolls there you will never see at other spots. Amazing rolls, especially the Chronic and Hogsbreath...fantastic
The Fish Joint rocks and will always be my #1.! Always new, creative and tasty treats. The atmosphere is fun and firendly and there isn't anything on the menu that will disappoint and there is nothing they wont try.
As an Japanese American I was taken back by the look of these Sushi Chefs, two redhead Surfing brothers that look like they wouldn't even know what sushi is. But then you sit down in the most entertaining atmosphere I have ever experienced and order off the one of a kind menu, your food comes and then the true test.......... PASSED! these guys not only know how to make sushi but know how to make sushi eating fun. I have no doubt these brothers were ment to be sushi chefs. The only down side is knowing that there are people in our great country that have not had the Fish Joint Experience. If you live in North County than you have no excuse!
I lived in Japan and know good sushi/sashimi. The shocker is two red headed surfer dudes are behind the counter and they not only can make sushi traditional style but, they've brought their own unique, artistic flair and and edge to the plate that even a staunch traditionalist would fall in love with. Totemo Harajaku kakkoii desu.
Visited San Diego recently and friends Cheryl and Steve took me to the Fish Joint. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was funky and refreshing. Good Luck, Fish Joint! Hope you win.
