Owner/Esthetician Heidi Olden is nothing less than absolutely amazing!!! Her signature facial, named for the spa is the most relaxing facial I've ever experienced. I've had other facials, and none of them compared to what I experienced at Urban Calm. Heidi's personal attention to each client is unrivaled, and my friends and I will never go anywhere else again!!! She was awarded Best of San Diego last year, a much deserved award!!! It seems to me that all other estheticians finally have a standard to try to reach, a model to try to imitate...and Heidi has set the bar high! I will be a client for life!!!
Before Heidi moved to San Diego, my wife treated me to a foot massage at her comfortable spa in Connecticut. Before the massage I enjoyed a delicious glass of cucumber water. The 30 minute massage followed. It was awesome. For several days I felt as though I was floating above the ground instead of walking. No stress. No tension. Just relaxation.
If you want to go to a place where the staff knows your name, this is it! I usually go for massages with Danielle, who is in my opinion one of the best masseuses in San Diego. The owner, Heidi, is always cheerful and takes time to chat with customers. I feel extremely welcome at this spa (and believe me, I have been to many others in San Diego).
Upon entering Urban Calm, all the chaos of downtown is gone and I am treated to the best facial I have ever had. Heidi Olden, owner of UC, gives complete attention to her clients. I always feel like I am her only facial and she does not hurry through my time to get on to the next client. The products she uses are natural, aromatic and yummy! Best of all, Heidi has an amazing touch that is soothing yet firm as she relaxes those tight facial muscles.

Heidi is known on the east coast and the west coast . Why? Because her touch and energy is very relaxing and comforting. It all comes from her love of her work and love for people. She opened her first spa in a little rural town in Connecticut, offering a spa experience to many that never had one before. A professional at a 5-star spa in North County told me about Urban Calm because I was complaining about driving 30+miles for a decent facial. What a great referral. Not only is Urban Calm great at creating a relaxed atmosphere, they also execute well the components of a terrific facial. High frequency, extractions, massage... very professional and a tremendous value. Selfishly, I'm kinda bummed the secret's out...
Heidi has a perfect attention to detail and quality. She literally gives the best facial I've ever had (and I've had a lot). My girlfriends from Europe say the same(!) Her salon is delicious little escape--all the senses are happy and calm. Her personal touch and kindness make the whole experience wonderful!
If you are looking to get the best facial in town or the best massage in town, this is the place! I love the fact that it's so personal and the services are holistic in a wonderful, tranquil environment. Also, the skin care line that Heidi uses is organic and the smells are wonderful. I just bought a few gift certificates for my friends so they can experience it as well.
I've looked all over for a great, consistent spa, and have finally found one that is very personalized and pleasant! Heidi and her staff are wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone with assurance they would not be disappointed :).
