Some of the best bangan bartha and lamb saag I've ever had.
The pho is phenomenal (see what I did there?). Seriously, though, the soup is never bad, and the summer rolls are fantastic.
A top-notch place. Comfortable, fun, and the staff is great. My first choice for sushi in San Diego, with everything else a distant second.
Lots of unpretentious charm, this place reminds me of restaurants back here in the east, with lots of history. The food is affordable and filling.
Small, but accessible and friendly staff.
It's a rare treat to find a bookstore devoted to some of my favorite genres, and which also brings in many authors that one doesn't see very often at other bookstores.
A good variety of beers. The barley wine is one of my all-time favorite brews.
The best hot & sour soup I've had, as well as fantastic vegetable lo mein.
I lived in San Diego for five years, and had to move from there back to Ohio in 2008. I have yet to find a restaurant with such a varied menu or with food so good. D.Z. Akins is one of my favorite spots in San Diego, not just for the food, but for the friendly, informal, homey atmosphere.
