I come to SD a couple times a year for bizz or pleasure.. and recently brought the wifey here.. AWESOME.. unlike some other wine places in SD, you don't feel shoe-horned into the place, The staff really know what their talking about, not some rehersed retoric told to them by a thrid party.. Hand down a must visit while in SD.

I served abord the Midway in the 80's (age18-20).. I live in the Chicago area and have paid homage to the ship every year since it opened.. I bring my familey there and tell them stories that I'm sure the tour guides know nothing about, it's become a tradition, not unlike singing around a camp fire or the reading of the night before Christmas.. The Midway and San Diego are a part of me, and now a part of my kids as well.. Everything in SD is awesome, but the Midway is the main reason I come every year. kudo's to all involved.. All you have to do is visited another ship museums with in our country to know that the people involved with CV41 care about her, she is in prestine condition, I am proud of what has been done and brag about her any availible chance I have. My next visit I will look at an overnight with my youngest son..

***oh yeah, I almost forgot, the Midway made me $40***
The day the Midway opened, I believe was June 8th 2004, My old Midway Shipmates (who happen to be my best friends still) flew in to be a part of what we believe to be our Meca. Well anyways, the fantail store sold these little Midway flash light, well, we all bought one and then snuck past the guards (Docents) and found our old berthing.. I went to my old rack (bed) opened up the locker and there in a sharpie pen was the list of several guys that owed me money.. all had been crossed off except for 1.. and he was now standing right next to me.. thats right, he forked over the $40 and I then crossed him off the list with a midway pen that i had just bought.. that was 17 years between making the list and getting off, maybe I should of charged interest.. hemmm
