Waters Fine Foods on West Morena Blvd. is a 'diamond in the rough'. It's tiny in an industrial area of the city, but with food of the quality not found elsewhere for the price and service. The albacore tuna sandwich is from fresh grilled fish, the eggplant was grilled that morning, everything is delicious. The service is gracious for such a busy shop. The locations at the San Diego Museum of Art and Solana Beach serve the same great food in radically different settings. I've been a fan of Waters Fine Catering for over eight years and haven't bought a chicken at the grocery store since then. They use only the best ingredients and the proof is in the tasting.
Waters Fine Foods is exactly that, 'Fine Food'. The quality of their product is outstanding. The presentation of their dishes are so attractive, it makes it really difficult to choose. Their menu is excellent and always offers daily specials, so customers like myself who eat there often, always have something new to try. Their desserts are 'to live' for! On top of great product and selection, their service is personable and always with a smile. For an awesome lunch or a fantastic pre-ordered dinner to go, Waters Fine Foods is truly San Diego's best in my book!
I feel like we have found a jewel in the rough. Not located in the trendiest of neighborhoods, Waters is one of our favorite "sandwich shops" to stop and have lunch at at least 1ce or 2ce per week. The sandwiches are to die for - delicious breads, succulent meats, tasty spreads, the freshest veggies, and fabulous side dishes - such as their awesome Mulligatawny soup or Acini de Pepe to accompany one of many sandwich treats. The phone order service is not the greatest (phone ordered from them twice and order was not ready or even started when we arrived to pick it up), but that did not stop us from going back to enjoy their great food. One can also sign up for their emails which arrive like clockwork everyday in time to allow you to persuse the daily menu and specials.
The roast beef is out of this world and the eggplant sandwhich is THE BEST sandwhich anywhere. The salads and sides at Waters are all terrific, each ingredient just pops with flavor and freshness.
Living in the area where a veritable plethora of great eating establishments exist,I have become a snobby,afficiando of gastronomical delights.
Red Tractons,the Fish Mkt,Pamplemouse Grill,Fidels Mex. Tony's Jackal-are all within walking distance from my abode-and,I am handicapped.
I find myself constantly returning to Waters,knowing that I will not go hungry that nite-no mater how upppity my taste buds are that particular day.
A VERY personable staff greets you as soon as you enter.They will assist you in theselection according to their knowledge of your particular tastes-allergies...

I have NEVER been disappointed with the quality of the food. I can walk in without a notion of what I want that day and will always find something exciting and wonderful. Water's is just what this city needs!
The food at waters is always fresh and wonderful! I have never ordered anything that was below excellent. The SDMA location is delightful with all of the museums and galleries within walking distance. I have driven to the Morena Blvd location and picked up dinner to take home and it is always gourmet!
I love that Waters uses real meats in their sandwiches--natural, hormone free meats make for a delicious sandwich. It's not a huge sandwich--but the quality outshines any lack of quantity.
