Beautiful setting, excellent food and what a venue. The staff if professional and so helpful. I seen several weddings here and each one has been unique and amazing
Well, if you don't want your guests to come...don't use this site for your wedding! Everyone came to our wedding and it was amazing! Location, quality, price, service, ... The Wild Animal Park in San Diego has it all! The venue site is beautiful and entertaining, the guests are able to visit the park before and after the ceremony, the price for the ceremony site and reception site is very reasonable, the food is absolutely outstanding, and the staff and service went above and beyond! Everywhere you look there is lush foliage, great photo-ops and of course, the animals! For our wedding in July we chose the salmon, prime rib, and chicken buffet and the food, everyone agreed- was on par with many top restaurants...very suprising for a buffet! The staff took many of our concerns to heart and had options available for our various needs; food allergies, wheelchairs and trams for the elderly and even high chairs for the kids- just to name a few!!
If I had to do it all over again, I would still choose the Wild Animal Park in San Diego as the Best Wedding Venue!
I had my wedding here in 2008 and it was amazing. Everyone had so much fun and even got free tickets to hang out at the park before the event. My planner was perfect and kept in contact with me all the time. She even went out of her way to get us a warthog at the reception; an odd request of my brothers. The largest shock for me was that the food was actually quite good! A shock since most venues are only mediocre.
The coordinators at the WAP are so organized and focused, especially on the big day. They took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about a thing. The views of exotic animals and awesome exotic trees were everywhere to be seen from the ceremony site. The guests really enjoyed it and were entertained every minute by this location. I am still getting complements today about our amazing wedding!
My daughter had her March 09 wedding here. Beautiful venue, animals at the reception keep guest uniquely entertained, great food, wonderful service, AND an amazing coordinator. All around great choice.
Overall it was a good experience. The wedding party was much more aware of problems than guests--the guests have all said very positive comments. The food was very good as were the servers. I think it really depends on her your contact person is with the Wild Animal Park. The person who is supposed to attend your rehearsal--ours did not, and the person who is there on the day of the event. I felt that I had to be thinking of all the details when that was their job--certain things should have been done that were not. However, if you want a reasonable expense and overall good experience I would recommend-just be involved in the details.
Hate to say it, but I actually had a rather unpleasant experience. Being a former WAP employee, my unpleasant experience was even more disappointing. Our coordinator was inexperienced and her communication skills were highly lacking. She dropped the ball on several occasions, including the scheduling of our animal presentation (which was to be a highlight of the reception). I will say that the food was actually quite impressive (hors d'vours, entrees, AND desserts), but the service was pretty lousy. We were married on one of the hottest weekends of the summer. Our guests were visibly sweltering at the ceremony site. No one offered any water or shade to any of our guests. My groom had to even request that an umbrella be brought for our poor harpist. As stated before, the food was really great. But because of the inexperienced staff and lack of attentiveness, I will have to advise others to avoid this venue.
Every wedding booked at the Wild Animal Park comes with a professional event coordinator that makes planning the wedding easy! The scenery is gorgeous with two different ceremony sites to choose from and three reception sites to choose from. Having a wedding at the Wild Animal Park provides the feel of an exotic destination wedding, yet if you are from San Diego, it is still easy for all loved ones to attend your special day.
I went to a wedding there and it was the best wedding I have ever been too. The scenery was so beautiful. I want to get married there but my best friend beat me to it!
